Yet one more entry for the weekend
You may be wondering why all the posts lately. Well, one Shawn is at Lake Mead this weekend, so I don't have anyone to talk to at home, which means I tend to play on the computer more. Two, because I'm on the computer more, I've been catching up on reading friends' blogs and have been staying up to date on ComiCon news via Pop Candy's blog. This brings me to the topic of this entry: ComiCon. There has been some great news out of San Diego this weekend, or at least I think it's newsworthy. Here's a run down of my faves.
There will be a special edition DVD of Serenity coming August 21, just in time for my birthday. Guess what I'm asking for?
At the Battlestar Galactica panel, Katee Sackhoff had my favorite quote: "I've always said that if a woman can do it better, by all means let her." That's why I frakkin love Starbuck.
The new show Heroes: Origin will start in April and they will be having guest writers/directors. The first person they've tapped is Kevin Smith and you all know how much I love Kevin. He joked that he wants to do a storyline about Hiro and Ando's love for each other because "they are gay, right?" Leave it to Kevin to go there. But honestly, I wouldn't mind that plot twist. Seems like Kevin's been a busy guy lately. He also directed the premiere episode of Reaper I believe it is and he's working on his next film which has some crazy long title that I can never remember.
The cast for Watchmen was revealed, but it was pretty much already leaked a few days beforehand. The director guarantees the film is not going to be a watered down PG version. Still can't wait to see Billy Crudup as Dr. Manhattan.
Zachary Quinto, Heroes' Sylar, will be Spock in JJ Abrams new Star Trek movie.
Karen Allen will be in the next Indy movie.
It looks like the next season of 24 will have some major retooling. Thank goodness because last season was underwhelming.
There was a lot of other news, but I'll stop there.
One other totally separate story to share: I watched the first episode of the new CBS show The Big Bang Theory online today. I loved it. I recommend that you watch or Tivo it when it starts in the fall. The basic premise is two nerdy friends who live together befriend the new cute girl across the hall from them. These guys are like Beautiful Minds uber-nerds from MIT but they are both super adorable. It looks like it will be a close run between BBT and NBC's Chuck for my new favorite show. I love the fact that so many new shows are not all about the beautiful popular people but the average joes. The nerds shall inherit the major broadcast channels finally!! Well, I'm off to read Book 9 of the comic Y: The Last Man. Guess I'm becoming more of a nerd each day. YES!!!
