Wow our 3rd anniversary

It's hard to believe yesterday was my 3rd anniversary. It doesn't seem like that long, but in the big scope of things Shawn and I have been together for 10 years. Now that's hard to believe. We had a nice relaxing day for the most part. Shawn got back from Lake Mead around 11. Shortly after, we went to lunch at Coyote Hills Golf Course, my suggestion. I thought it would be fun to go back to our wedding site and take a few pictures. The ceremony site has changed a bit in that there are a lot more trees, flowers, etc. But overall, the place looks just like it did when we had our wedding there. It's absolutely one of my favorite settings.

After lunch, we went to Babies R Us to look at mattresses for the crib since their sale was ending yesterday. Barb ended up coming down to meet us because she really wanted to treat us and buy the mattress. So baby's bed is now complete. Thanks, Grammy. We went shopping to the new Target and I picked up a couple pairs of maternity shorts, a must have with this darn heat killing me lately. Shawn then needed to take a nap. Poor guy has had one heck of a long weekend, so I was cool with that. We went to dinner at Acapulco and then stayed in the rest of the night. Shawn hooked up the new TV in the bedroom, so now he can officially sell the monster sized TV that we've been wanting to get rid of for awhile. That thing weighs a ton, so I'll be happy for it to go away before we move.

The best part of the night though was Shawn finally got to see the belly wave, what I've officially named it. Lately, I've been able to see Inara move practically from one side of the belly to the other, but Shawn keeps missing it. So last night I had him stare at the belly for a bit and she finally did it when he was watching. His mouth dropped. He couldn't believe how much she moved and how well he could see it. Oh if he only knew what it felt like. All day yesterday she was on my right side, so my belly has been lopsided and a bit uncomfy I might add. I can't believe just how active she is, but I'd much rather have that than a baby that I can't feel at all. This way I know she's doing well. 7 more days and we get another ultrasound. I can't wait to see baby Inara again.

Yet one more entry for the weekend

You may be wondering why all the posts lately. Well, one Shawn is at Lake Mead this weekend, so I don't have anyone to talk to at home, which means I tend to play on the computer more. Two, because I'm on the computer more, I've been catching up on reading friends' blogs and have been staying up to date on ComiCon news via Pop Candy's blog. This brings me to the topic of this entry: ComiCon. There has been some great news out of San Diego this weekend, or at least I think it's newsworthy. Here's a run down of my faves.

There will be a special edition DVD of Serenity coming August 21, just in time for my birthday. Guess what I'm asking for?

At the Battlestar Galactica panel, Katee Sackhoff had my favorite quote: "I've always said that if a woman can do it better, by all means let her." That's why I frakkin love Starbuck.

The new show Heroes: Origin will start in April and they will be having guest writers/directors. The first person they've tapped is Kevin Smith and you all know how much I love Kevin. He joked that he wants to do a storyline about Hiro and Ando's love for each other because "they are gay, right?" Leave it to Kevin to go there. But honestly, I wouldn't mind that plot twist. Seems like Kevin's been a busy guy lately. He also directed the premiere episode of Reaper I believe it is and he's working on his next film which has some crazy long title that I can never remember.

The cast for Watchmen was revealed, but it was pretty much already leaked a few days beforehand. The director guarantees the film is not going to be a watered down PG version. Still can't wait to see Billy Crudup as Dr. Manhattan.

Zachary Quinto, Heroes' Sylar, will be Spock in JJ Abrams new Star Trek movie.

Karen Allen will be in the next Indy movie.

It looks like the next season of 24 will have some major retooling. Thank goodness because last season was underwhelming.

There was a lot of other news, but I'll stop there.

One other totally separate story to share: I watched the first episode of the new CBS show The Big Bang Theory online today. I loved it. I recommend that you watch or Tivo it when it starts in the fall. The basic premise is two nerdy friends who live together befriend the new cute girl across the hall from them. These guys are like Beautiful Minds uber-nerds from MIT but they are both super adorable. It looks like it will be a close run between BBT and NBC's Chuck for my new favorite show. I love the fact that so many new shows are not all about the beautiful popular people but the average joes. The nerds shall inherit the major broadcast channels finally!! Well, I'm off to read Book 9 of the comic Y: The Last Man. Guess I'm becoming more of a nerd each day. YES!!!

Funny dream to share with "the guys"

I had this funny dream the other night where I was at ComiCon with Andy C. and Tony P. I believe I recall Toby W. being there as well, but he had no speaking parts in this one that I remember. Anyhow, Andy, Tony, and I were trying to get into the Con but we found out we did not have the proper passes to get in. We were all super bummed because there were a few panels we were stoked about, particularly the one for Battlestar Galactica. We ended up walking outside around the convention center and downtown SD because there were all these booths outside pedaling low-end goods. Of course, all the good stuff worth having was all inside but we still had to check out what they had. The funny part is Jason kept calling Tony and I to see how the Con was. He was really bummed he couldn't be there with us, so we was calling us practically every 15 minutes to see what was going on. (This weekend Jason is at Lake Mead for Thien's bachelor party, so he really is missing the Con this year.) Well, Tony, Andy, and I didn't want to tell Jason we couldn't get into the Con, so we kept making up all these stories about what was going on and who we were seeing. I remember at one point as Tony's talking to Jason, Andy yells out, "Holy crap there's Starbuck!" which makes Jason yell, "Go get her pic for me!" (I don't even know if Jason likes Katee Sackhoff that much but in my dream this made him super jealous that we got to see Starbuck from BSG in person.) Too bad there were no Nathan Fillion moments in this dream, but it was still a lot of fun to hang out with the guys at the Con in my dream, so I had to share with them.

Fun personality tests...Thanks Cami

What kind of sandwich are you? I'm a turkey one. Not sure I agree with the shy part of the description but I LOVE the last part though because being a good friend is so important to me: Conservative and a bit shy, you tend to stick with what you know and trust. You are very introverted, and you prefer to blend in whenever possible. Though you may be hard to know well, anyone who does know you considers you a true friend. Your best friend: The Ham Sandwich. Your mortal enemy: The Tuna Fish Sandwich

What Should Your Superpower Be
Oh I really like this one. Heroes here I come: Your Superpower Should Be Mind Reading
You are brilliant, insightful, and intuitive. You understand people better than they would like to be understood. Highly sensitive, you are good at putting together seemingly irrelevant details. You figure out what's going on before anyone knows that anything is going on! Why you would be a good superhero: You don't care what people think, and you'd do whatever needed to be done. Your biggest problem as a superhero: Feeling even more isolated than you do now

The Muppet Personality Test
My results are a little off right now because some of my answers were definitely pregnancy influenced. Guess I should have considered the food comment more carefully. At least I didn't come out Miss Piggy. That's not what a pregnant woman wants to hear right now.
You Are Animal
A complete lunatic, you're operating on 100% animal instincts. You thrive on uncontrolled energy, and you're downright scary. But you sure can beat a good drum. "Kill! Kill!"

How Green is Your Life?
Drat! I was hoping I would rate higher, but a 40% ain't bad. I can't wait until I have a backyard so I can start my garden and composting. I used to be better about walking more but pregnancy has changed that a bit. Here are my results:
You're on the right track to living a green life, and you're definitely doing your part to help out. You care about the earth, and hopefully this quiz has given you some ideas on how you can do more!http://www.blogthings.com/howgreenisyourlifequiz/

One Movie I Can't Wait to See

As you know, I've become a fan of graphic novels/comic books, although I haven't had much leisure time to read them these past few months. One series that I absolutely fell in love with was Watchmen. I had heard they were casting for the film adaptation and just read on Yahoo who they have chosen. I'm excited to see they didn't go with some huge name actor, especially Tom Cruise who I've come to dislike more and more because I'm sick of seeing his name everywhere. Billy Crudup should be a good choice and I'm super excited to see what Jeffrey Dean Morgan will do since I fell in love with him on Supernatural and Grey's Anatomy. I strongly recommend reading Watchmen before the film comes out. You will love it!

NY Mag's Top 10 Fictional Characters Who Must Die

I found this today on Pop Candy's blog http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2007/07/hitlist.html. It's an interesting list of 10 fictional characters that should be off'd. I'm not sure I see why some of them made the list simply because I've never watched the show they are on. Others, however, I totally agree with, starting with Mary Jane Watson. I'm curious which characters you'd like to see make a hit list. I'll post more of my targets later.

Yummy dessert for all to enjoy

Saturday Shawn and I visited Icepan on the corner of Bristol and Sunflower in the old Golden Spoon space. If you are in the Costa Mesa area, I highly recommend checking out Icepan. They provide a made to order, healthy ice cream that is all natural. You get to choose which type of milk you want, so for those who are on strict diets, this is a healthy dessert option. They then add fresh fruit to flavor your ice cream. We tried the soy milk strawberry ice cream, which was super tasty. Also, if you are diabetic, they can make an ice cream especially for you. This is the first Icepan around, but I'm sure there will be more popping up around SoCal soon. They are a bit pricey for an ice cream, but you'd expect it since they make your ice cream right there, so plan to wait about 3-5 minutes for your order. To learn more, visit www.icepanusa.com.

I've been zapped

I hate the heat! Today has been an uncomfortably warm day and all my energy is officially zapped. This does not make pregnant girl very happy. Please send me overcast, low 70s, and a good strong breeze to make me comfy. How is it that I've been a SoCal girl all my life and I've never adjusted to the weather? I'd much rather be in the rain and snow than in the heat. Ugh is all I can say.

Baby has a place to sleep

Yesterday I took Shawn to Kids Place Outlet, which I had visited a couple weeks ago. I found a couple crib sets I really liked, so I wanted him to check them out. The store was having a liquidation sale because they are moving, so all their furniture was marked down. Shawn walked around and found the set he really liked, which just so happened to be one of the sets I liked too. Great news is it was on sale for 40% off!!! We ended up getting the crib and dresser combo for under $1000, which is a great deal considering how expensive some of the furniture we've looked at has been. The crib is convertible, so Inara will have this bed set for quite awhile. Also, the dresser has what they call a single drawer "hat." Later we can buy the leg set to convert this single drawer into a nightstand, which I thought was kind of cool. Of course, I had to call my dad to come help us load up the big boxes to bring the furniture home. My dad knows quality furniture and when he and Shawn took the dresser out, he was really impressed with the craftsmanship of the work. I knew then that we had made a great purchase. I had an Arbonne party today, so Shawn and his mom put the crib together and started arranging the nursery. It's slowly coming together, and I couldn't be more excited. We still have to decide what to do with the two spare TVs we have in the house and a couple other odds and end pieces. But for the most part, I can start seeing where we are going to fit everything for baby girl. 9 more weeks to due date!!!

Leave it to one bad egg to ruin it for the rest of us

I have had to change the setting on comments for the blog. You will no longer be able to post an anonymous comment. So if you want to comment, please register as a user. I've had a couple anonymous comments that I did not appreciate, so I am now monitoring all comments posted. Leave it to some jerk hacker with way too much time on his/her hands to ruin it for the rest of us. Also, comments will need to be approved before I will add them to the blog for others to see. Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope you will still read and enjoy my ramblings.

Arbonne on TV

Arbonne is starting to get so much exposure on TV. Here's last week's interview in Wisconsin with our first NVP Donna Johnson. How can you not want to learn more after hearing these women speak?

Baby update

Yesterday I had a visit with Dr. Chu. She was thrilled to see that my belly is finally blossoming as she put it. We heard Inara's heartbeat, which was good and strong. The doctor also ran through the last blood work I had done. No problems with glucose levels and my blood count is good, so she does not need to restrict my diet or put me on iron supplements. Both were good news because I definitely did not want to develop gestational diabetes or worry about anemia. This also means that all of my blood work and tests have come back negative, so Inara and I look to be pretty darn healthy. I am sooo glad I started getting into shape, exercising, eating better, and lost weight before I got pregnant. I truly believe that has made a difference. I wanted to make sure I gave my baby the best possible start to her health as possible. Shawn even said he's been so proud of me and everything I've been doing to stay healthy these past 7 months. I haven't had any cravings actually and have stayed consistent with eating small healthy meals. Lastly, Dr. Chu calculated that I've only gained 15 pounds. Yay!!! I still have 10 weeks to go, but I'm right on track with staying within the 25-30 pound range. Our next visit will be in 3 weeks at which time she'll do an ultrasound to see where Inara is measuring. I'm so excited I get to see baby girl again. It's been so long since our last ultrasound, so I can't wait for August 7th. I will have Shawn post the latest pictures of me and my belly tonight. He took some good ones over the weekend, so I'll make sure he gets those up soon.

The weekend update

It's Monday yet again. Why or why must the weekends go by so fast? This past weekend literally flew by for Shawn and I. Friday was a pretty hectic day for me with a Chamber of Commerce breakfast, Arbonne work, and errands. Also, it was my dad's birthday, so we took Pop out to Chris and Pitts for dinner. Yummy!

Saturday Shawn played in a soccer tournament and I was up early to attend an Arbonne training on a boat cruise around the Long Beach harbor. While poor Shawn was frustrated with his soccer team and their performance (we all know he hates to lose), I had a blast at the training. It's such hard work to attend a training, be out in the beautiful sunny weather as we cruise around the harbor, and enjoy it all with good friends. Man, I hate working. Ha ha. I got a few new ideas to help me build my business, so I was most excited about that. However, pregnant girl, as I like to refer to myself, needed a nap when she got home. We then headed out to Rancho Santa Margarita for Shawn's boss's dinner party. It's always a good time at John and Rhonda's. They are seriously the best hosts ever! The food was delish as usual. It was good to hang out with friends for a couple hours as well, as Jason, Rob, Greg and Tracy were there with the rest of Shawn's co-workers.

Sunday morning was another early rise since we had breakfast scheduled with the Tomlinsons and my parents. We went to The Reef in Long Beach. They seriously have the biggest breakfast/brunch buffett I've ever seen with everything you could imagine: omelet bar, sushi bar, pasta bar, stir fry bar, crab legs and tons of other seafood, ribs, mashed potatoes, plus the usual breakfast items like bacon, sausage, waffles, etc., and a ton of desserts. I could only make two trips to the buffett and a small sampling of desserts without overdoing it. My tummy just can't stuff that much, especially with baby taking up so much space now. Of course, the best part of the meal was visiting with family. Barb cracks us up with her silly stories. And we all know how much my dad loves to pick on everyone. I'm getting worried though because the more Shawn is around Pop, he just might start acting like him. Oh no. Two smart-ass wits might be too much to handle. After breakfast, Shawn and I wrapped up the guest bed and loaded up the car to take stuff over to Thane and Kristi's house. Well, actually, Shawn did most of the work lifting boxes because pregnant girl can't do much any more. My dad and brother came over to help too. I also recruited mom to help me with a few house chores. This apartment is a disaster zone right now. But the good news is there is officially room for a crib in the nursery now. Yay! We are going crib shopping on Saturday. Shawn and I are both ready to just buy one that really catches our eye. No more window shopping. Let's just get it over with.

Last night, I thought we'd be productive and get some other projects done, but instead, Shawn convinced me to go see Transformers. I realized that we hadn't done anything just the two of us, so it was a good idea to get in some bonding time, especially since this week we're both busy pretty much every night. I'm so glad he talked me into the movie because I LOVED Transformers. I am in awe of the special effects and want to know how in the heck they made the robots. They are amazing looking. If this doesn't win the Academy Award for best special effects, then there's something wrong with the voters. Besides the special effects, the movie was very enjoyable and yes, I know some people are turned off by the Michael Bay cheese factor of the film, but I can get past that and still enjoy myself. I only wish there was more Josh Duhamel in the film. He's so hot! The main star Shia LeBouf (or however you spell his name) wasn't bad either. He seemed to carry the film, which is good because he's going to have a big role in the next Indiana Jones, so he better be good. Needless to say, after the movie and our long weekend, as soon as we got home, Shawn and I crashed. It felt good to get a solid 8 hours of sleep last night. We both needed it. Let the new week begin.

BSG Movie

Here's a link to a preview of the Battlestar Galactica movie coming in November. Plenty of time for everyone to watch seasons 1, 2, and 2.5. I'm still waiting to get season 3. Anybody have a copy I can borrow?

Last night's Chamber of Commerce mixer

Last night I took Kristi as my wingman to a C of C networking mixer. I knew it was at a place called Huntington Terrace, which I thought was a hotel. When I Googled directions, I decided to look up the place to see pics of it before hand. Ha! It is a senior community. Since I had no idea what to expect from the networking, Kristi and I went in casual and focused on just having fun. We did that indeed. I had asked Kristi to go with me in order to help her out with the Arbonne challenge of passing out 5 sample packs a week. She was super excited because she actually passed out 3 and got new contacts. Way to go, Kristi! I've been attending a lot of Chamber events lately, which is fun because I feel like I've got a new little family of sorts growing, so it was fun to have Kristi there to meet some of the people I've met through the Chamber. It was totally cute when Linda, the main organizer at the Chamber, came over with this lady Gerry, a real estate agent, to show her how cute my pregnant belly is getting. The two ladies then gussed and told me how excited they are for me. I love all these new friends I'm making. Honestly, I must say that the greatest thing about building my Arbonne business is exactly things like this: getting to meet so many incredible people and, more importantly, all the self-development I've done this past year. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined joining a Chamber of Commerce and being involved in community activities like I am now. But I love it and am so grateful that because of Arbonne I have grown so much and become so much more confident in myself. Yes, it may be hard to believe, but in the past I was shy and did not have the highest level of self-esteem. I was just good at putting on a show to lead people to believe I was self-assured. Now, I have a great sense of confidence in myself and my abilities, and boy does it feel good! One more reason to love Arbonne.

It's Monday already?

Where did the weekend go? I'm so excited because Shawn and my dad made it back from Mexico. It was a long week without the hubby around, so I was thrilled when walked in the door at 3:30am on Saturday. I missed him lots. Shawn had an awesome time fishing with Pop. It was good fishing, but more importantly, Shawn loved hanging out with my dad. They really had a great time. You can see Shawn's pics at www.shawnandmarisa.com. Saturday afternoon we headed up to Bakersfield for a wedding. Oh joy. An outdoor wedding in 103 Bakersfield heat is not pregnant girl's ideal way to spend a Saturday. Needless to say, I was miserable. Mike K. and I eventually went and sat in the car to get cooled down with A/C. Poor guy was hating life because he still has his cast on. (Thank goodness it comes off this Tues.) It was fun getting to see our friends though. Sunday after breakfast we headed home only to grab our stuff and run over to hang out with my parents. I had to hear Pop tell all his stories about taking Shawn fishing. Seriously, my dad is the best storyteller. It was fun to hear Shawn and my dad tell us all about the trip. Pop then bbq'd some of their catch, which was mighty tasty. Too bad it's Monday already and Shawn has to go back to work. I know he could use another day or two to recoup.

This week is going to be pretty busy with Arbonne activities, dentist appointment, and house projects. We seriously need to get things prepared for baby at this point. I now have 11 weeks left until my due date, so we've got to get things rolling around this place. We still have quite a bit of stuff to clear out and find room for, so I'll get started on light projects around the house during the week. When mom and Michael were over last week and we were working on the guest room, I realized I can't do as much as I used to, especially once I felt a strange pull in my abdomen. I hate not being able to do everything I want, especially since I'm really not all that big. I just expect to be superwoman as usual. Guess that's out.

I can't believe how packed this weekend is already. Saturday I have an Arbonne training on a boat, then Shawn's boss John is throwing a bbq, which will be fun because his parties always rock. Sunday we have brunch with the Tomlinsons, my parents, and Kristi's parents. Then we're moving boxes and the guest bed to store in Thane and Kristi's garage. Good thing Shawn took a vacation last week because he's got lots of work to do these next couple weekends. We've definitely got to go shopping for a crib once the guest room is cleared out. Let's keep our fingers crossed I can have the nursery ready by the end of August like I want. I refuse to be scrambling in September to get everything ready. I want to enjoy my last couple weeks before Inara arrives, not that I won't enjoy life once she comes, but I know life will forever be changed once those contractions start.

And we shall call her...

The latest popular question has been have we decided on a baby name yet. The answer is yes. When I got pregnant last year, I started a name list right away and kept adding to it after the second pregnancy. The funny thing is I was rooting for a boy, yet our list of boy's names was half of the list of girl's names. I guess I jinxed myself in a way. It finally came down to Maya Beth and Inara Grace. Shawn and I finally decided on Inara Grace. Of course, we've had mixed reactions. Yes, Inara is very different, but I really wanted something unique. Growing up, I was the only Marisa in my class and I loved having a different name. I wanted my daughter to have a similar experience. As we've been telling people, my favorite response came from Kristi, who said that the name reminds her of a fairy. That's perfect! I agree that Inara does have a mystical, magical feel to it. Plus, last week my niece Avery said Inara, so now the name is definitely staying. I know someone will ask what it means, so I'll respond now. I have no idea. Shawn and I took the name from a sci-fi TV show we love. She is the petite, beautiful, smart, witty, worldly, latina-esque character, which I'm hoping will be ways I describe my daughter.

Oh I am a happy girl today

I'm being lazy this morning catching up on my pregnancy journal and reading up on my entertainment news. I just read the best news story: my boyfriend Nathan Fillion is in talks to join the cast of Desperate Housewives this fall. YAY! I would love to see Nathan playing a much-sought-after hottie on Wisteria Lane. Supposedly he'd be playing Dana Delany's much younger husband, which can only mean there will be someone on Wisteria Lane trying to take him away as has been the case with all the men on the show. I so hope he will be a regular this fall so I can have a weekly dose of Nathan. It's about time casting directors recognize his hotness factor. Now if I could only convince someone to cast him as the next Indiana Jones, either for prequels or as Indie's son who will follow in his father's footsteps. BTW, if you haven't see him in the film Waitress, then I highly recommend it. Not only is he adorable in the film, but Keri Russell does a great job as well. But for me, the movie is all about Nathan!

Baby room construction is under way

Yesterday my mom and my brother came over to help me start cleaning out the guest room to make room for baby. Mom wrapped up the framed pictures I had on the wall and the collectibles I had out that I need to store away. Michael helped me clear out all the stuff that was stored under the guest bed and find homes for it elsewhere in the house. Honestly, most of it was shoes, which was funny because he didn't realize I loved shoes that much. I was happy with the progress we made. Now Shawn and I have to figure out which items are going into storage at Thane and Kristi's house. We had originally planned on getting a storage unit, but Thane graciously offered up his garage so we don't have to pay for storage. I know the guest bed is going there for certain. Otherwise, Shawn and I have to figure out which boxes to take to Thane's house and which to put in our garage. Once Shawn gets back from his Mexico fishing trip, we will clear out the rest of the room and then shop for a crib and dresser. I still don't see how everything is going to fit in the baby's room. We need to leave my dresser and the nightstand in there, plus we have the beautiful toy chest my dad made and I'm going to borrow my mom's wood rocking chair. Michael said once we take out the furniture, he can come over and help us figure out the best configuration for the stuff that's staying in there. He's always really good with that kind of stuff. My goal is to have the furniture in place by the beginning of August. Honestly, I realized yesterday that I couldn't do much. I was on my hands and knees getting stuff out from under the bed and think I pulled a muscle or something because the rest of the day my abdomen was tight. Of course, mom and Michael yelled at me. So that makes me really anxious to get the room done by August since I know I will definitely be limited in the next month.

Am I carrying on a bad tradition?

I remember when I was growing up that when my dad went away on a fishing trip something crazy would happen at home that would leave my mom thinking, "Why couldn't this happen when Mike was around?" Saturday my dad and Shawn left for a week long fishing trip in Mexico and wouldn't you know it something bad happened to me Saturday night. First off, I want to say that I am alright and was not injured, so rest assured baby and I are fine.

I was on my way to Kristi's house in my old Honda Civic. I was stopped at a red light when all of a sudden I noticed my car jerk forward. I looked in my rear view mirror and noticed a car on my ass. I motioned to the old man driving the car behind me to move to the side of the road. The light turned green, I proceeded to move to the right lane to turn into the parking lot only to watch the old man speed off. Not one to let someone get away with hitting me, I followed the guy. He drove down Lampson like a crazy man reaching speeds of at least 65 in a 40 mph zone. He finally got stuck at a red light, so I caught up to him and continued to follow him ending up at his home. I got out of the car to see what kind of damage to my car I was even dealing with here. There were definite marks to my bumper, basically an imprint from his license plate frame, and some paint transfer from his white car. I walked up to his car and asked him to get out. This is when I realized I was in trouble. First off, I noticed his car was pretty banged up with scratches and dents all over it. As the driver opened his door, I soon realized I was dealing with a man close to death. I told him he hit me at the intersection and he blurted back, "No, you rolled into me." I explained that I did no such thing and would need to get his information. He slowly got out of his car and used his cane to walk turtle-like to his house. As I walked behind him, I realized he had what looked to be a pee stain on the seat of his pants. He went into his house to leave his fast food bag and came back out to talk to me. I asked if he wanted to look at my car. He snorted, "No. I've got to hurry and get off my feet." He leaned on the car in his drive way and was breathing so hard I thought for sure he was going to keel over on me right there. I asked for his name, phone number, etc. I then asked for his insurance info. He said he had USAA insurance. I asked if he had his card or knew his policy number. He grumbled, "I don't know where that card is." I then asked for his license. He pointed and said I could get it off the car myself. "No," I said. "Not your license plate number, your driver's license number. You know the one you get from the Department of Motor Vehicles." He huffed and dug into his pocket to pull out his wallet which he gingerly flipped through with trembling hands. He didn't find it so he took out his second wallet and flipped through that. He finally found his license and showed it to me. I wrote down the number along with his birthdate: April 1917! The man is 90 years old!! I started to feel bad for the old man. I asked if he would like to pay for the damages himself rather than going through his insurance. "Hell no. You'll be hearing from my lawyer." At this point, I didn't feel so sorry for the old fart. I gave him my info which I had written down for him and walked away. When I called AAA to report the accident, the operator said I did the right thing because this man probably shouldn't be driving to begin with. When I heard from AAA today, I was told I was 0% at fault and wouldn't have to pay the deductible to get the car fixed. So now tomorrow I get to go back to Honda World where we just bought the new car to get my old car fixed since we will be selling it soon and I want to make sure we get the most money we can for it. Why couldn't this all happen when Shawn was home?
